about the artist
Alberto Lombardi
Defined “Italian Fingerstyle Master” by Acoustic guitar Magazine, Alberto Lombardi is an eclectic guitar virtuoso.
History
He effortlessly goes from an acoustic tour with Tommy Emmanuel – or recently teaching at his international guitar camps – to producing his rock record with Bruce Springsteen and Rolling Stones legendary sound engineer Bob Clearmountain (“Home” 2020).
The album was praised by the likes of Nile Rodgers (Guitarist and producer for Madonna, Duran Duran and Bowie to name a few) and features the original lead singers of the band Chic, Norma Jean Wright and Luci Martin, with whom alberto toured many times.
He also released three acoustic guitar records: “Through the Years”, “The fermi Paradox” and “Birds” , receiving rave reviews from renowned magazines such as Acoustic Guitar, Fingerstyle Journal, Vintage guitar and more.
Lombardi was put among the 8 guitarists to watch in 2018 by Vintage Guitar Magazine.
As a solo acoustic/electric player Alberto played major festivals in Europe and USA and toured with some of the most influential acoustic guitarists of our times, like Tommy Emmanuel, Peter Finger, Muriel Anderson and Tim Sparks to name a few.
He has also performed for illustrious institutions like the Los Angeles Museum of the Holocaust and the Italian institute of Culture.
As a teacher Alberto has released four instructional videos with Stefan Grossman’s guitar videos label, teaching some of his most popular arrangements and some creative guitar technique.
As a sideman Alberto has rocked stages as big as Italian Stadiums like Olimpico and San Siro, or Pavillao Atlantico in Lisboa. In his 25 years career he’s worked with major Italian acts as a session player and record producer/arranger/mixer. He runs his recording studio – “Belairstudio” – in Rome, Italy.
His acoustic solo arrangements are very personal, derived from the different musical experiences Alberto has in rock, jazz, country and pop as a session player. Yet they’re rooted in the style of the great Chet Atkins and Tommy Emmanuel. He digs into complex arrangements of Italian and american classics, translating them on the guitar (Georgia on my mind, Volare, ‘O Sole Mio), picking up clever harmonic movements from those great arrangers and composers and making them his own, on the six string.
