AP5 Original Pickup System
$450.00
Maton’s piezo based onboard pickup system, built around the same philosophy that’s made Maton’s pickups a byword for natural amplified acoustic tone.
The AP5 Original sits alongside the AP5 Pro in Maton’s current pickup lineup as the simpler, piezo only option. It’s a straightforward, reliable system for players who want great tone without a microphone channel to manage.
What you get:
- A sweepable mid range you can actually dial in. The FQ control lets you select a frequency between 1kHz and 2kHz, and the MID control boosts or cuts it, so you can carve out honk, add air, or push a thicker lead tone depending on what the moment calls for. Start flat, then shape from there: 1.4kHz with a 5dB boost gives an open, natural voice, while 1.7kHz with a 5dB boost thickens things up for lead lines.
- Simple, direct control. Independent Bass and Treble sliders plus a master Volume slider put everything you need within easy reach, with nothing extraneous to fiddle with mid set.
- Proven, gig ready reliability. The same rugged build quality and straightforward operation that’s made the AP5 family a mainstay in Maton guitars played on stages worldwide.
If you want an onboard system that’s easy to set and forget, dial in your tone, plug in, and play, the AP5 Original is a trusted, no frills option.
Compatibility and installation
Our guitars are built around our own pickup systems, we strongly recommend working with a Maton Authorised Repairer for a proper retrofit.
