Most guitars pair a softwood top with hardwood back and sides. These are Blackwood throughout — soundboard, back and sides all cut from the same Australian timber. The result is a natural compression that blends the frequencies into a single voice: clear, bright trebles, a strong midrange and full bass, with an evenness that is difficult to get any other way. A Queensland Maple neck and streaky ebony fingerboard and bridge firm up the attack, while rope binding and a matching rope rosette finish the guitar in keeping with the timber.
In the 808 body it stays balanced and articulate, every string sitting evenly against the next, and the cutaway keeps the upper register within reach. The AP5 PRO pickup system carries that compressed, even voice to the front of house intact. Natural satin throughout, chrome Grover Rotomatics, in a Standard Maton Hard Case.
