Rohan Stevenson, better known as I Built The Sky, is a Melbourne-based guitarist and producer who has been establishing his name in the music industry since 2012.

I Built The Sky’s music specialises in complex riffs, shredding guitars, and catchy melodic lead work. Whether it’s full-on progressive metal bangers or intricate acoustic pieces, word has spread quickly about I Built The Sky worldwide.

History

Despite starting out solely as a hobby and studio-only project, Rohan Stevenson, known as I Built TheSky has transformed his project into a fully-fledged live act, performing worldwide.

I Built The Sky first ventured to Europe and the UK in 2018, performing 23 shows with Aussie prog friends Caligula’s Horse and Circles. By 2019, Rohan left his teaching job to pursue I Built The Sky full-time. In 2020, he represented Bare Knuckle Pickups at America’s NAMM convention before returning to Europe and the UK to perform with progressive metal heavyweights Monuments across another 23 dates.

Over the last few years, I Built The Sky has released the album “The Zenith Rise,” which debuted in the Top 13 on the ARIA charts and Top 20 on the iTunes charts. The single “The Fire Inside”, featuring members of Monuments, and the EP “Coalesce,” a collaboration with Jake Howsam Lowe featuring members of Intervals, The Omnific, and world-renowned string smith Andre Nieri, also garnered significant acclaim. “Coalesce” debuted at number 1 on Bandcamp across four categories (Djent, Progressive Metal, Progressive Rock, and Guitar), number 3 on the ARIA charts, and achieved a top 40 debut on the iTunes charts.

In 2022, Rohan made his most ambitious move yet with the new album “The Quiet Place Away,” which showcases his acoustic side with stunning results. The new album features live strings, mandolin, banjo, piano/keyboard, and more, with lush arrangements and production by world-renowned producer Forrester Savell.

I Built The Sky is set to take charge on stage in 2022, beginning with three “Uncaged” Festival dates in Australia, followed by national and international headline shows, tours, and festivals.
